Using Time Wisely

We covered the Four Currencies last week and Time is the first of four. So, analyzing how you are spending your time is crucial.

What we covered on January 19th: “Learning to outperform 98% of our fellows is a journey that first begins in your mind. Everything is created twice, first in your mind and second in reality. Goals are created in reality by individuals through their actions, as they act out their beliefs and values about themselves and how the outer world they see reflects those values. The inner world of our mind translates to the outer world that we see and act upon. Is the glass half empty or half full? Actually the glass is refillable.”

Time is the only resource that is not refillable. So it’s paramount that creating your daily schedule must be congruent with your greatest value. Creating a purposeful life, setting goals for its achievement and becoming creative in finding the methods and resources in its attainment. Create your Vision and mission in life which is consistent with your personal values then set the goals, methods and means for its attainment. Your daily schedule will need to be congruent with your values and vision and worthy of the time invested. The present moment is all we have to execute our plan and make our life worthwhile.

Congruency is important; we must live in accordance with our highest, most noble values, walking the talk as we say. Building a life of value enables one to become recognized as a true friend and leader. This is the currency based on trust. This will create a synergy with the currencies of time and relationships (trust) resulting in a greater probability of exponential growth.

Action steps:
1. Create a Vision for yourself.
2. Write a plan of action, prioritize.
3. Live the plan as if you have become your vision.
4. Find mentors.
5. Act in the present moment.

The Four Currencies

The wealthy use their assets to create greater wealth, they work at not squandering what they have accumulated, and they value their time and increase their earning power by building mutually beneficial relationships with others.

The Four Currencies:

Time
Money
Knowledge
Relationships

1. Time. It is impossible to obtain more time. Most people are willing to trade time for a fixed wage. We are only granted life for a fixed amount of time and no person knows exactly how many days they are granted to live in this life. The wealthy value their time and create income systems to afford them a lifestyle which they design.
2. Money. Most people are willing to settle for a wage. Unless you are a celebrity in the entertainments business, professional sports, a recording artist, etc., it is not very probable that you will become wealthy or have a comfortable retirement from being a salaried employee. It takes consistent discipline to accumulate enough assets that will last long enough; investing early and often as well as legally avoiding having your assets syphoned away by income taxes.
3. Knowledge. Specific, specialized knowledge is required to be successful. We add value to others by our activities as an employee and or in business. Specialized knowledge is the foundation, the spring board which put us in a position to achieve success. Low level employees don’t invest in themselves. The wealthy and world class individuals understand that continued leaning and self-mastery is a must! The application of specialized knowledge is the basis of competence.
4. Relationships. There are very few rich hermits. Successful individuals learn to network, build personal relationships with others from their family to a support system of friends, colleagues and business contacts to enhance their personal and professional development. Creating or joining a Mastermind group and other professional networking groups are very effective methods to learn from other successful people as well as to increase sales and profits for your business through referrals.

Action steps:
1. Create a Vision for yourself.
2. Write a plan of action, prioritize.
3. Live the plan as if you have become your vision.
4. Find mentors.
5. Act in the present moment.

Your Journey During 2017

As we continue from last week, January 2017 is now 2/3 completed. What have you accomplished so far? Are your goals written down and on schedule?

“They always say time changes things, but you actually have to change them yourself.” –Andy Warhol

A. H. Maslow’s hierarchy of needs:

Self-Actualization: Morality, creativity, spontinaity, problem solving, lack of prejudice, acceptance of facts.

Esteem: Self-esteem, confidence, achievement, respect of others, respect by others.

Belongingness: Friendship, family, sexual intimacy.

Security: Security of body, employment, resources, morality, the family, health, property.

Survival: Breathing, water, food, clothing, shelter and homeostasis.

How do you score on Maslow’s hierarchy? Are you still clinging to survival looking for security in others rather than yourself?

Learning to outperform 98% of our fellows is a journey that first begins in your mind. Actually the glass is refillable.

Action steps:
1. Create a Vision for yourself.
2. Write a plan of action, prioritize.
3. Live the plan as if you have become your vision.

2017 Is Now!

What do you want?

Now it is 2017, today’s date is not a random date far off in the future, it is now. You are here and your actions are in the now! So for a better tomorrow, what you do “in the now” at the present moment will have a creative impact on what will determine your future. Create the life you want!

You have more control over your own life than any other person or circumstance. It is our response to other people and events that affect us most.

Design the Life you really want. Authors Michael Hyatt and Daniel Harkavy’s book: Living Forward an excellent primer to assist you in becoming aware of whether you are just drifting through life or are actively designing and creating the life of your dreams.

Their book is organized to help you become self-aware and to set goals. Excerpt: “1. Become aware of your current location. We want to help you see where you are in relation to where you want to be…2. Decide where you want to go. The essence of Life Planning is envisioning a better future. We want to empower you to dream…3. Start working toward your destination. Once you have acknowledged where you are and decided where you want to go, you can begin moving toward your goals…” (page 33.)

“In the absence of clearly defined goals, we become strangely loyal to performing daily trivia until ultimately we become enslaved by it.” –Robert Heinlein (Novelist)

Action steps:

  • Do a self-assessment, what is your present location?
  • Decide where you want to go.
  • Make a Plan; use discipline every day to create your future.

In The Now!

Metaphysics

“It’s not what you are that holds you back; it’s what you think that you are not.” –Denis Waitley

Lasting happiness and peace springs from the understanding that you are free to be who you already are. Your life is a miracle – what holds us back are false beliefs, i.e., of the labels attached to us, our wants and fears define us. I believe that there is only one power, one presence in the universe which is omnipresent. An omnipresent energy, many refer to this presence as God.

Our source for life and everything in it is of this God presence. By the realization that our life is a miracle and that we are a perfect being – metaphysically – we can release and dissipate our fears, obsessions and conditional happiness and life freely – In The Now!

“When you are alone and the world is still,
Your own small voice speaks loud and clear,
You are yourself and truly be,
Will you listen or turn away?”
–Zak Klemmer

Feelings are just feelings, they are not facts, they are not reality, and they do not define who you are. Are you feeling stressed? Do you feel encumbered by your past? Go to a quiet room where you will be undisturbed for a few minutes. Sit in a comfortable chair, support your back, get comfortable and relax.

Let go of the need to possess or control the situation. Your burden is not who you are, can you let it go? Would you let it go? Visualize yourself letting go, being free. Visualize yourself free and in the now. Allow yourself to be free in the now.

Life is like a river; no man can step into the same river twice. This is because a river is about flow and it is not the same water that it was last year, yesterday, today and it will be different tomorrow. Release your burden and let it melt away, explode it into bits, it no longer as a place in your life. Live in the now!

Live in the now, allow the real you to live and breathe. Breathe in and out; relax knowing that the vital life force that animates us is present in your mind and body. Live today, live proactively as a self-actualizing individual. You are in possession of everything you need as the real you. Think, dream, plan and act courageously and positively on your success journey, you are on the River of Life in the now.

Living your life’s mission is creating your vision every day! It is a “work in progress” so be patient with yourself and work your plan allowing for setbacks and unexpected events, keeping your sights on the big picture of your mission and vision.

The motion picture was invented by Thomas Edison. It is simply thousands of still frames running in motion before a lens creating the illusion of movement. A single day in our life is similar to that one frame of a motion picture, the main difference is that our life is real – the single day is but one day on the river of life; so by looking ahead to the future and working at your mission you succeed through living that one single frame that represents “Living in the Now”.

Are you fully committed? The difference between success and failure is that successful men and women realize that temporary setbacks and failures are just temporary road blocks on success road. By keeping focused on their long-term goals they live successfully by working around these obstacles. Even failure is not permanent, unless you quit. To succeed you must re-invent yourself and find a way to succeed at your long-term goals.

Failures squander time forgetting that the actions that we take each and every day can become a bountiful harvest when we create a positive vision. The visionaries of life succeed by acting! Taking positive action on our vision through our mission we live our life with a purpose that will carry us to our destiny.

Action steps:
1. Create a Vision for yourself.
2. Write a plan of action, prioritize.
3. Live the plan as if you have become your vision.
4. Find mentors
5. Do it now!
