Creating Your Vision

“In the absence of clearly defined goals, we become strangely loyal to performing daily trivia until ultimately we become enslaved by it.”

–Robert A. Heinlein

The eight critical steps to success are:

1.  Vision

2.  Values

3.  Goals

4.  Tasks

5.  Self-talk

6.  Attitude

7.  Commitment

8.  Now!

Vision without action is a daydream.

Action without vision is torture.

“Where there is no vision, the people perish. . .”

Proverbs 29:18

Vision:

We are the author of our own life and we have the power to make choices every day eliminating fear and limitation and create our own vision, to create the life of our design – a purpose filled life.

Action steps:

  • Create Your Life Vision
  • See Yourself Living the Vision
  • Set Goals with steps to achieve them
  • Find mentors
  • Learn to become competent in the vision
  • Act!
  • Click Here!“>Keep Your Goals On Track

“What you do is create a vision of who you want to be and then live into that picture as if it were already true.”

In choosing success we make all things possible and open our mind’s imagination and intuition to find creative answers to life!

What would you start today if you believed that you?

    • Will succeed?
    • Have sufficient money to start?
    • Presently possess the talent and skills necessary?
    • Know how to find the right people to join your cause?
    • Are confident of your communication skills to motivate and persuade others?

You are a hero on a hero’s journey.

Once you are born you start the journey of self-discovery.

    • First you are given permission to behave by your parents.

    • Second you are influenced by your friends.

    • Third you seek acceptance from your school teachers.

    • Forth you are influenced by your neighborhood.

    • The interaction of neighborhood, peers, teachers, religion, family and parents creates a mental map of your identity.

    • This is an incomplete picture of who you are at best.

    • And completely false at worse.

You are the CEO of your life – isn’t it time that you set your own agenda, creating your own mission and vision?

    Vision Phase

    • What do you want to do?

    • Why do you want to do it?

    • What is the purpose?

    • What are the benefits?

    • How will you know that you have them?

    • When can you expect to get them?

    • Where do you want this idea to get you in the future?

    • Who do you want to be or be like in relation to manifesting this idea?

    Accomplishment Phase

    • When will the overall goal be completed?

    • Who will be involved?

    • How specifically will the idea be implemented?

    • What will be the first step?

    • What will be the second step?

    • What will be the third step?

    • What will be your ongoing feedback that you are moving toward or away from your goal?

    • How will you know that the goal is achieved?

Create a Vision board – a pictorial “storyboard” of images of both the benefits of success and the activities that you are doing to achieve your success.

    Analysis Phase

    • Who will this new idea affect and who will make or break the effectiveness of this idea?

    • What are the needs and payoffs?

    • Why might someone object to this plan or idea?

    • What positive gains are there in the present ways of doing things?

    • How can you keep those things when you implement the new idea?

    • What identity and behavior patterns do you need to change to accomplish the new idea?

    • When and where would you not want to implement this plan or idea?

    • What is currently needed or missing from the plan?

“It’s the same process that I used in body building, what you do is create a vision of who you want to be and then live into that picture as if it were already true.”

    –Arnold Schwarzenegger

    Conclusion:

In choosing success we make all things possible and open our mind’s imagination and intuition to find creative answers to life.

Living is a mind-set, a state of being. By living our mission we create our vision by performing our tasks with joy auto magically achieving our goals.

Homeless or living in the custom home that you designed yourself? You have the power to choose!

“The future is not a result of choices among alternative paths offered by the present, but a place that is created–created first in the mind and will, created next in activity. The future is not some place we are going to, but one we are creating. The paths are not to be found, but made, and the activity of making them, changes both the maker and the destination.”

–John Schaar – Professor Emeritus UC Santa Cruz

    Action steps:

    1. Create a Vision for yourself.
    2. Write a plan of action, prioritize.
    3. Live the plan as if you have become your vision.
    4. Find mentors

Wayfarers Chapel

Wayfarers Chapel

http://www.wayfarerschapel.org/your-visit/architecture/

Quotes from Wayfarerschapel.org:

Nature and Architecture Unite to Celebrate the Presence of God. Chapel Architect Lloyd Wright, son of the pioneering American architect Frank Lloyd Wright, conceived the design of Wayfarers Chapel as a “tree chapel”, a natural sanctuary set in the midst of a forest.

“I wanted particularly to allow those trees and those trunks to be seen and the space beyond and into infinity to be observed, so those who sat in the sanctuary would perceive the grandeur of space out beyond and around them.”

Lloyd Wright’s design is one of the foremost examples of Organic Architecture. One of its underlying principles of organic architecture is that the trees are the forms and the space within the forms is sacred space.

“When the trees that surround the Chapel grow up, they will become the framework, become a part of the tree forms and branches that inevitably arise from the growing trees adjacent to it. I used the glass so that the natural growth, the sky, and sea beyond became the definition of their environment. This is done to give the congregation protection in services and at the same time to create the sense of outer as well as inner space.”

Lloyd Wright’s inspiration came on a trip through the redwood forests of northern California shortly following the end of World War II. He stopped at a little restaurant surrounded by trees. During lunch he looked up through a skylight and saw the magnificent redwoods rising up on the sides and branches arching overhead like a great natural cathedral. So impressed with the sight he vowed that if he ever received a commission for a church this would be his inspiration.

“The great cathedrals of redwood inspired me to use the redwoods here. In earlier days all over the face of the earth there were chapels in glades and the woods which were meeting places for the priests and the people. The Chapel was to be a place for people to meet, and think, and contemplate the forces of nature and God Almighty. The setting of this Chapel is to receive people, the wayfarers.”

Conversations

I wrote “Permission to Succeed – A New You 4 The New Year” for a specific purpose in mind, namely to bring about a greater awareness of “self” to you my readers. Since at present it’s not practical to sit down with you on the sofa in my living room and have a conversation my thoughts written in this book will convey ideas as a facsimile.

This is a “how to gain awareness” book. My hope is that you will be inspired and challenged by the ideas written in the book to think about your life, realize that you have the power within your mind to create a better life for yourself and then take action. While there are many great books on planning, time management, salesmanship, communication and books to inspire you to think “BIG” I found most of these were either too disorganized or too detail oriented to be a road map for creating your ultimate life of success.

Track goals, tasks, progress & time

The eight chapters were organized to break down the process of what successful people think and do to take their dreams from inception to actuality. By becoming aware of how we think and respond to other people, ideas and events in our life we can set new goals and work on new strategies to become more effective at directing our mind and living successfully. This book will help you to become aware of your strengths and weaknesses; how to direct your thoughts to help you find the answers within your own mind and create greater success in your life.

The Secret

In gaining greater self-awareness and using introspection you can be totally honest with yourself and deal with life coming from objective reality. Your present circumstances are primarily the result of your beliefs which created behavior resulting in the results that you have achieved at present. When you change beliefs causing a change in your behavior that will create different results.

You will be able to take the ideas in this book and use them as a road map to build harmonious relationships, gain wealth, success in business or any definite purpose that you have the desire to attain.

This blog is here for you to start a direct dialog with me to follow up after you have read Permission to Succeed.

Stop, Breath, Center, Observe

Self-awareness is crucial to our wellbeing, our happiness and reaching our goals in life. Our sense of self has the coding so to speak for “the map” we have in our head that tells us who we are and where we are in the world.

When you are having a crisis:

“Stop!

  • Don’t act or react.

  • Breath.

  • Center.

  • Observe:

What is the big picture?

Have I felt this way before?

What does this situation remind me of?

How was I feeling right before the event?

(I was tired, I was happy, I was already

upset, I was not paying attention.)”

Play to Win, by Larry Wilson, pp. 95, Bard Press

Dr. Maxwell Maltz, MD, FICS

One of the first books on self-esteem that I read many years ago was “Psycho-cybernetics and Self-Fulfillment” by Dr. Maxwell Maltz, MD, FICS. I’ve lived and learned a lot since then. One of the problems that I have experienced, learned from and have overcome (although it’s a work in progress) is looking in the rear-view mirror. Dr. Maltz was right on regarding self-acceptance and forgiveness. We deserve to live joyously and courageously working towards our purpose in life!

“Am I regularly revisiting the past to gain a true perspective and think with understanding?”

Self-Awareness

Self-awareness is crucial to our wellbeing, our happiness and reaching our goals in life. Our sense of self has the coding so to speak for “the map” we have in our head that tells us who we are and where we are in the world.

When a child is about two-years old he starts to be able to distinguish his needs from others, this self-consciousness or self-awareness that his identity is separate from others, and the ability to feel pride and shame.

As an example put a touch of rouse on a child’s cheek then hold up a mirror. If she touches the rouse on her own cheek, rather than the reflection in the mirror, then she has become aware that she’s the child in the mirror.

Our map (the imaginary one in our head) may no longer be serving our highest and true self. Our career, our relationships, our goals in life may be at an impasse due to our inattention or a self-image that is not what it should be. Because we have the power to choose, we can choose to change. We can create a new vision, a new map and chart our future in a different and more successful direction.

“Determine what’s in your best interests:

  • Is my thinking helping me to protect my life and health?

  • Will my thinking help me to achieve my short- and long-term goals?

  • Will my thinking best help me avoid my most undesirable conflicts with others?

  • Will my thinking help me feel emotionally the way I want to feel?”

Action steps:

1. Create a Vision for yourself.

2. Write a plan of action, prioritize.

3. Live the plan as if you have become your vision.

4. Find mentors

Out Perform

Learning to outperform 98% of our fellows is a skill set which first begins in your mind. Everything is first created in the human mind then translates into the life of individuals as they act out their beliefs and values about themselves and how they see the world we all live in. The inner world of our mind translates to the outer world that we see and act upon. Is the glass half full or half empty?

Everything begins with an idea- this is the most important message that I can impart. Become an Optimist. The process of optimism is similar to that of pessimism only the fruits- the end result is opposite. Become an optimist in your thinking so when you awake each day you are glad to be alive, looking for opportunities – when acted upon will over time result in a life of success.

“Imagination is more important than knowledge.”

–Albert Einstein

It is our imagination that allows us to see the possible and ask “What If?”
