“Quality of Life”

“Quality is never an accident; it is always the result of high intention, sincere effort, intelligent direction and skillful execution; it represents the wise choice of many alternatives.”

We hear the term “quality of life” like it is some external quality of our being. I have read and heard this equated in political discourse as something that [is implied] institutions are responsible for. Why wait for some institution to give you permission, a subsidy or a politician to promise you bread and happiness? Seth Godin wrote a blog essay recently:

Reject the tyranny of being picked, pick yourself:

“Once you understand that there are problems just waiting to be solved, once you realize that you have all the tools and all the permission you need, then opportunities to contribute abound.

No one is going to pick you. Pick yourself.” –Seth Godin

Creating a vision and mission for your life is just the starting point for creating and living a quality life. A life filled with purpose- a purpose that you choose for yourself. A life worth living- a purpose-filled life.
